The Kindergarten Program
Our kindergarten classroom continues to follow NAEYC's best practices, using a hands on approach to learning. The curriculum is aligned with the Common Core Standards that are utilized and adapted by multiple districts. The children are provided multiple opportunities for writing throughout the day, especially during their morning journaling time. The students work on the first 100 FRY Instant Sight Words, experience kindergarten Everyday Math, and are introduced to chapter books by studying different famous authors. Along with the academics the children acquire to be successful in grade school, social and emotional development is also an important part of the program.
We offer both a year round/extended day kindergarten program or a program that follows the SAU16 school district school hours and calendar while providing the quality care and nurturing environment we are known for.

The students and teachers work on long term investigation projects. The students learn how to develop questions, research multiple resources to gain answers to their questions, develop plans, and implement their plans. We also welcome families to share their area of expertise with the class. In the past we have built rockets with a rocket scientist, learned about rocks from a geologist, built houses with an architect, learned yoga from a yoga instructor, and so much more. We appreciate any participation in the classroom that families are willing to share!
